In 1965 Jim Sano and his three sons Anthony, Jimmy, and Johnny opened 3 Sons Italian Restaurant at 44th & Lowell in Denver. In 1985 the Sano family purchased Ernie's Supper Club from Ernie Capolupo and moved the restaurant to its present location.

Susan and Michael Scarafiotti purchased 3 Sons in March of 2004. Michael and Susan collaborated on recipes and menus, Susan redecorated the dining room, and 3 Sons was reborn.
