MilkBoy is a bar and music venue located in Center City Philadelphia. It is the brainchild of music industry veterans Tommy Joyner and Jamie Lokoff (MilkBoy Recording Studio) and food and bev veteran Bill Hanson (Continental, Budokan, Alma de Cuba, JG Domestic). The complete history of MilkBoy begins in 1994, when MilkBoy opened as a music recording studio above a music store in north Philly. It was here that we established our ethic of treating our customers like friends and delivering service with personality, care and gratitude. We always took pride in exceeding our client's expectations. In 2005, we expanded our footprint in Philadelphia's music scene and opened our first music venue as an all-ages coffee shop, MilkBoy Coffee, on the corner of Lancaster Ave and Cricket Ave in Ardmore. The cafe has become a place for our community to gather and enjoy great coffee, food, and music. Rising stars seen on the Ardmore stage include Eric Hutchinson, Sharon Little, Ryan Montbleu Band and Melanie Gardot. Fast forward to 2010: the MilkBoy partners were approached by the owners of a vacant building on the corner of 11th and Chestnut streets in center city Philadelphia, hoping that the addition of MilkBoy could help add some life to the block. Ground broke on MilkBoy Center City in May 2010 and construction was completed in August 2011. Much of the interior is handmade, by us, from recycled materials, and the can crushers compliment our recycling ethos. MilkBoy Philadelphia is a change from the original coffeeshop venue it adds more space, a bar and beefier PA system but we are still dedicated to providing our guests with the same great hospitality we're known for in the music business.
